Clove & Moose: Moose Moment 1

Clove and Moose is a serial fiction story. If you want to get caught up on what came before, click one of the buttons below.

Previously, on Clove & Moose: After the mysterious Cataclysm dried up the earth and its magic, Clove and her cat Moose travelled to find and repair pools of corrupted magic left behind. She's picked up three companions: Marissa, Jasper, and his trusty horse Miss Delilah.

Moose’s fur was damp.

Moose’s fur never used to get damp. He would chase water drops that ran down the window pane. He would sit outside the shower and meow at his humans until they finished. He might, on occasion, dip a paw in an unattended water glass.

But that was as close as he came to water. His fur had stayed dry.

Now his fur got damp. Although he was tucked in the deepest corner of the wagon, curled up on one of Marissa’s sweaters, with Clove wedged in beside him for warmth, the covering of the wagon wasn’t completely waterproof and the occasional drop of water splashed down onto him.

Moose’s fur was damp. He purred anyway.

Thank you for reading! We'll come back to the main story of Clove & Moose soon enough, but I've been publishing a monthly fiction newsletter for five years straight and I need a little break. These shorter Moose Moments will be coming to your inbox instead for the next few months.
